Thursday Fields (2018) is a 20-minute documentary directed by Harry Zernike. It portrays a diverse group of people—ranging from native New Yorkers to new immigrants, Wall Street traders to construction workers—who gather every Thursday evening at the abandoned Floyd Bennett Field airport in Brooklyn to race bicycles on its weathered tarmac. The film captures the intensity of the competition and serves as a vibrant portrait of New York City’s present-day melting pot.
