La Maestra, produced by On The Water Front Creative and Paul Ferraris Productions, is a poetic 30-minute documentary about Mayra Aguiar’s life in a remote fishing village in Baja California, Mexico. The film focuses on Mayra’s dual role as a primary school teacher and a pioneering female surfer in her community. Shot in HD at San Juanico (Scorpion Bay) and its surroundings, the documentary reflects on freedom, education and female empowerment. Through interactions with her students and neighbors, it presents an intimate portrayal of a woman redefining expectations while honoring local traditions.
