The opening episode of The Yukon Blues begins in Toronto, Canada, where Igor D'India sets out on a long-distance journey with minimal resources. Traveling north by hitchhiking, the route is shaped by uncertainty and gradual progression. The episode introduces Walter Bonatti as a central historical influence, framing Igor’s motivation through past exploration narratives. Personal reflection and observational storytelling define the structure. This chapter outlines the documentary’s approach, blending movement, context, and internal perspective.
