Hokkaido is Japan’s wildest island — an immense land of mountains, endless coastlines, and rice fields that hide a harsh reality: depopulation. Every year, thousands of people leave their villages; towns are emptied, and nature reclaims the land. On this journey, we’ll cycle more than 700 kilometers from Wakkanai, Japan’s northernmost point, to Sapporo. We’ll cross remote landscapes, endure storms in the mountains, and discover what it means to ride through a land struggling not to be left behind. Beyond adventure, this documentary reveals what it’s like to live on an island where homes are abandoned, schools close, and silence replaces the once-bustling life of its villages.
